源氏物語シリーズから、今回は薫に思いを馳せて染めました。
表向きは源氏と女三の宮との間に生まれた子ですが、実は父親は柏木で、
不倫の末に生まれた子供でした。
その真実は父である柏木の死や母である女三の宮の出家で隠されますが、
薫は成長するにつれて疑い始め、自分の存在が罪から生まれたものだと考えるようになり、
深い自己否定と罪悪感を抱くようになります。
若い頃から容姿も品格も優れ、特に体からは香が漂う性質で、人々から香の君と呼ばれます。
対比的に登場する匂宮とは違って、薫は恋愛にも慎重でどこか冷静で距離を保つ性格。
出家を願う気持ちもありながら、世俗を完全に捨てることができず常に心が揺れている、
そんな人物です。
物語の最終章、宇治十帖では、数人の女性と出会います。
その中の一人、中の君には求婚する薫でしたが、
そこに匂宮が入り込み、関係は複雑になるのでした。
その後には浮舟という女性に惹かれるも、悲運な結末となるのでした。

薫は源氏物語の中でも特に現代的な悩みを持った人物で、罪の意識と誠実な愛の間で揺れ動き、何者にもなれず、救いを見出すことのできない存在。
華やかな源氏の物語とは対照的に、人生の虚しさは無常感、宗教的救いの可能性を強く感じさせるものとなっています。
そんな薫の、繊細で内省的な人柄や精神性、恋愛の苦悩などを表現できるよう努めて染めました。
優しさや心の揺れ、静けさと孤独、などをテーマにしています。
源氏物語のストーリーに入り込むような気持ちでお使いいただけるととても嬉しいです。

刺し子、こぎん刺し、ダーニング、てまり、刺繍など、幅広くお使い頂ける綿糸です。

大切に染めていますが、手染めなので色ムラがあったり、糸の継ぎ目がある場合があります。
濃い色は色落ちすることが可能性としてございます。

また、染める際の枷により色の違いが見られます。
手染め、手仕事ゆえですが、ご理解いただける方にお求めいただけますと幸いです。

なるべく実物の色味をお伝えできるよう努めて撮影していますが、ブラウザの違いなどにもより、若干の違いがみられる場合があります。

This set is inspired by Kaoru, a central character from the later chapters of The Tale of Genji.
Though known as the son of Genji and the Third Princess, his true father was Kashiwagi, and he was born from a hidden affair.
As he grows up, Kaoru senses the truth and begins to see himself as a child of sin, carrying deep guilt and self-doubt.

Known for his refined beauty and the gentle fragrance that naturally surrounds him,
Kaoru is thoughtful, quiet, and cautious in love—very different from the passionate Niou no Miya.
He longs for spiritual peace, yet cannot fully leave the world behind, and lives in constant emotional conflict.

In the Uji Jujo, he forms complex relationships with several women, including Naka no Kimi and Ukifune,
but his love often brings sorrow and ends in tragedy.

Kaoru represents a more introspective and modern kind of struggle—torn between guilt and sincere love,
and always seeking, but never finding, salvation.

I dyed these threads to reflect his gentle heart, inner turmoil, and quiet melancholy.
Themes like kindness, emotional wavering, and solitude are expressed in each color.
I hope you’ll enjoy using them as if stepping into the story yourself.
